A couple of weeks ago I posted an article describing the death of a second spearfishing diver in Australia in only two weeks. That time in Queensland.
Yesterday, Saturday 6th May, 2026, a THIRD person was killed by a shark near Albany, Western Australia. Again, this man was spearfishing.
Three people killed by sharks in barely three weeks is unprecedented to my knowledge here in Australia.
Albany fishermen had noted a substantial increase in the frequency of sightings of large sharks in the waters where the latest fatality occurred.
There is something different taking place with shark behaviour in our coastal waters. I would not be going spear fishing!
The sun was shining. A gorgeous day for boating and fishing at or near the holiday island of Rottnest, twenty kilometres off the coast of Perth, Western Australia.
During the morning several spear fisher people were diving in deep water one kilometre off the island's northern coastline.
Suddenly, one of the swimmers was attacked by a huge great white shark. He couldn't be saved. A shocking experience for all concerned.
Last weekend, one week later, a spear fisherman diving from a boat off the coast of northern Queensland was attacked by another shark. He could not be saved.
Australian swimmers have suffered numerous shark attacks in recent years. Both in our Swan River, as well as the Indian Ocean, and other states. Rarely though do two people lose their lives to shark attacks in such a short time frame.
A time for caution in both our oceans and rivers.
Canadian Senior Moment offers two courses to teach you how to write your life story, memoir.
I recently completed the 15 lesson course titled "Write Your Life Story". I learnt a lot. Especially how to get going and not waste time and effort to tell one's story with invigoration and interest.
I was extra encouraged by completing the lessons, so much so, I have now completed one third of the main course, "The Legacy Project".
This course offers 114 easy to follow, thought provoking lessons on beginning, and vitally important, completing one's life story, or memoir.
Excellent material.
For anyone considering investing time and effort to write their story I highly recommend these two courses.
Simply visit "Courses" to learn how to stay on "course" to write your story in a meaningful and exciting way!
Cheers Ross
I'll admit I don't get on here in the Gathering Place as often as I'd like. So many other things taking my time.. I always come on within a few hours whenever I get notification that a member has been on, sometimes right away.
It seems there is very little interest in this site which is a bit discouraging. The majority of members have not been on the site for anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months. If anyone has suggestions to bring members around more often, I'm all ears.
Scams are deceptive schemes designed to trick people into giving away money, personal information, or access to their accounts. They often come disguised as legitimate messages emails, phone calls, texts, or even official-looking websites making them harder to spot. As technology advances, scams continue to evolve, becoming more convincing and widespread. This makes awareness and caution more important than ever. Staying alert, verifying sources, and protecting your personal information are key steps in avoiding becoming a victim.
