Hello Folks!
Marilyn and I have spent a lifetime crisscrossing this beautiful country, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Canada’s true soul is found in its stories. Sometimes those stories are housed in grand stone museums in our capital cities, and sometimes they are kept alive in a single-room schoolhouse or an old grain elevator on a quiet prairie backroad.
Today, we are officially launching our Canadian Heritage & Museum Directory.
We’ve organized this as a “Coast-to-Coast” road trip, starting with the rugged lighthouses of Newfoundland and Labrador and working our way west to the Pacific and up into the Arctic. It is a comprehensive look at the places that define us—from the Fortress of Louisbourg to the S.S. Klondike.
Exciting News: Woodleigh is Coming Back!
Putting this directory together brought back so many memories for us. We were recently reminiscing about the old Woodleigh Replicas in PEI. We know so many of you have cherished photos in your albums of your children or grandchildren standing next to those miniature stone castles.
The site has been quiet since 2008, but we have some wonderful news to share: Woodleigh is being reborn! The property is currently being transformed into the Woodleigh Castles Resort and Spa. They are meticulously restoring the iconic stone-and-mortar replicas, including the Tower of London and Dunvegan Castle. The project is currently on track for a Spring 2026 completion, making it a perfect destination for your travels later this year. It’s heartening to see such a beloved piece of Island history finding a second life.
