Scams to Watch For
Before we get to the fun stuff, please stay vigilant with these recent threats:

AI Voice Cloning: Scammers are now using small clips of audio from social media to mimic the voices of grandchildren or family members. If you receive a call from a loved one in “distress” asking for money, hang up and call them back on their known number to verify.

The “ClickFix” Attack: Be wary of fake security pop-ups (like a CAPTCHA “I’m not a robot” box) on unfamiliar websites. Some of these now copy dangerous commands to your computer’s clipboard. Only trust verification puzzles that ask you to click images.

Mail & Text Phishing: Watch for realistic-looking messages regarding “unpaid speeding tickets” or “CRA dashboards.” The CRA will never demand immediate payment via e-transfer or gift cards.
