(Spoiler: We Might Be Overachievers)
Hello friends!
Marilyn and I have been doing some thinking lately. We pour our hearts into this newsletter seven days a week, and we occasionally wonder: Is it actually of any value to you? Are we doing enough? Are we doing too much?
So we did some research, and what we discovered genuinely surprised us.
We’re Kind of Unusual (In a Good Way)
When we started Canadian Senior Moment, we didn’t really think about how often other newsletters publish. We just knew we wanted to show up for you consistently, provide useful information, share stories, and build a community.
Turns out we’re doing something pretty rare.
Based on research analyzing 75,000 newsletters on Substack, here’s how often most newsletters publish:
24% publish monthly (once a month)
21% publish weekly (once a week)
21% publish 2-3 times per week
Only 3% publish daily (seven days a week)
That’s right—only 3%. We’re in the tiniest sliver of newsletters that show up in your inbox every single day.
We’re not sharing this to brag (okay, maybe we’re a little proud!). We’re sharing it because we want you to know that what you’re receiving—completely free—is genuinely exceptional.
What You Get Every Week (For Free)
Let’s break down what lands in your inbox:
Monday: Internet safety and technology guidance
Tuesday-Thursday: In-depth 3-part series on topics that matter to Canadian seniors
Friday: “Forgotten Dollars” series (helping you find money you didn’t know you had)
Saturday: News roundup, events across Canada, and travel deals
Sunday: Personal stories from us and (we hope!) from you
That’s seven pieces of content every week. Educational, practical, relatable and Canadian-focused. All free.
Most newsletters charge for far less than this. We’re not planning to change that—we believe everyone deserves access to good information regardless of their budget.
But Wait, There’s More (And We Mean That Literally)
Here’s where we get really excited to share something new with you.
We’ve just launched a brand-new website: CanadianSeniorMoment.ca
(When you first visit the website, click on “register,” which is in small print beneath the “Log In” box. Register with the same credentials you used for the newsletter.
The website includes (all free):
✓ Searchable database of all our past articles – Find that article about CPP optimization or winter driving tips instantly (They’re not all there yet, but we’re working on it.)
✓ Additional materials: eBooks, guides, and resources
✓ Community chat features: Connect with fellow readers and chat directly with us
✓ Organized content: Everything categorized so you can find exactly what you need
To access the website, simply register using the same email address you use for this newsletter. That’s it! No complicated process, no credit card required.

Why We’re Sharing This
Transparency matters to us. We want you to understand the effort that goes into showing up for you seven days a week, and we want you to know about all the resources available to you.
We also want you to feel confident that what you’re receiving is genuinely valuable. When only 3% of newsletters publish daily, and most of those charge for access, we think what we’re offering is pretty special.
More than anything, we want you to know: You matter to us. This isn’t just a newsletter we send out into the void. This is a community we’re building together, one day at a time, one article at a time.
Our Shared Wisdom
We’d love to hear from you: what topics or resources would you like to see added to the website? What would make the “Our Heroes” membership irresistible to you? Your feedback genuinely shapes what we create.
Looking Ahead
We have so many exciting things planned. More tools. More resources. More ways to help you navigate retirement with confidence and joy. The website is just the beginning.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading. Thank you for being part of this community.
Now go check out that website!
Warmly,
Bill and Marilyn
Founders of Canadian Senior Moment
P.S. Need help navigating the website or using the chat features? We’ll be adding a complete guide soon, but in the meantime, feel free to reach out directly through the chat—we’re here to help!
DISCLAIMER: Our Heroes Club membership details are subject to change as we refine the offering based on member feedback. Pricing shown represents our current structure. All free content will remain free regardless of membership options.
