Hi there. Welcome back to “Your Canadian Senior Moment”!
We’ve been listening to your feedback, sharing your stories, and seeing first-hand how quickly the world around us is changing, especially when it comes to technology. More and more, connecting with loved ones, accessing services, and even just finding reliable information happens online. We know that for many Canadian seniors, the digital world can sometimes feel a bit daunting, confusing, or even a little scary.
That’s why we’re absolutely thrilled to announce a brand new, incredibly important service we’re launching right here on “Your Canadian Senior Moment”: “Connect & Thrive Online” – Your Digital Literacy Course for Canadian Seniors!

What is “Connect & Thrive Online”?
This comprehensive course is designed with you in mind. We’re going to tackle the internet step-by-step, with patience, clarity, and absolutely no confusing jargon. Whether you’ve never touched a computer, use it a little but want to do more, or just want to feel safer online, this course is for you.
To guide you on this journey, I bring a unique blend of experience: I’ve personally owned and used computers since 1980, am a proud graduate and qualified computer programmer from the Atlantic Computer Institute, and have been surfing the internet for over 35 years. I’ve witnessed the digital world evolve from its very beginnings, and I’m eager to share that practical, real-world knowledge with you. And for those questions of a more technical nature, our eldest son, a seasoned computer technician with more than 20 years of experience, is always ready to lend his expertise!
We’ll start right at the very beginning, helping you understand your devices and how to get connected. Then, we’ll gently guide you through everything from sending your first email and finding information online, to confidently video calling your grandchildren. We’ll show you how to safely access important online services like banking and government information, and, most importantly, we’ll equip you with the knowledge to protect yourself from online scams and misinformation.
Our goal with “Connect & Thrive Online” is to truly embody our mission statement: Canadian Senior Moment: Sharing fond memories, insights for growth, and warm community spirit. This course is a huge part of delivering those “insights for growth” that help you live your golden years with confidence and joy.

What to Expect & How to Participate
We’ll be rolling out these lessons in an easy-to-follow, visual format, making sure every step is crystal clear. We want to empower you to embrace the digital world, not just tolerate it.
We’ll be providing foundational lessons for free, giving everyone a chance to build their basic digital confidence. For those who want to dive deeper, master more advanced skills, or get access to exclusive Q&A sessions and detailed guides, we’ll have options to support our work and become a fully-fledged “Connect & Thrive Online” member. More details on that soon!
Perhaps you’re already fairly computer literate and surfing the web like a pro, but maybe you know someone—a friend, a neighbour, or a family member—who has been hesitant to step into the digital world or is still not too sure how it all works. Please recommend us to them and encourage them to give “Connect & Thrive Online” a try. Our people-friendly instructions are designed to benefit anyone who feels they could use easy, step-by-step lessons to navigate the digital world, regardless of their age. Anyone who you feel would benefit is welcome to join us!
We’re so excited about this new chapter for “Canadian Senior Moment,” and we truly believe it will help even more of us feel connected, capable, and secure in today’s world.
