Canadian Senior Moment Weekend Roundup

Saturday, March 7 – Sunday, March 15

Hello everyone! We hope you’re keeping warm and the snow shovels haven’t worn you out quite yet. It’s been a busy week here at the headquarters, but we’re back with your weekly guide to staying safe, informed, and active across this great country.

⚠️ Scam Alert: The “CRA Credit” Text

Lately, many seniors have reported receiving text messages that look official, claiming you have an “unclaimed tax credit” or a “benefit payment” waiting. They often include a link that looks like a government website.

What to look for:

  • The Link: The CRA will never send you a link via text message asking for personal or financial information.

  • The Urgency: They often say the offer “expires in 24 hours” to rush you into clicking.

What to do: If you get one, do not click the link. Simply delete the message. If you’re ever worried about your taxes, log into your official “CRA My Account” directly through the government website or call them at their official 1-800 number. Better safe than sorry!
