Happy Wednesday,
It is easy to look for happiness in big events—the vacation to Florida, the lottery win, the grand family reunion. But life is mostly made up of Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. If we only wait for the “big stuff,” we spend a lot of time waiting.
We’ve been thinking a lot about the “little things” lately.
The joy of putting on a brand-new pair of wool socks on a cold January morning. The satisfaction of peeling a clementine in one piece. Seeing a cardinal flash red against the white snow in the backyard. Finding the bookmark exactly where you left it.
These aren’t earth-shattering events, but they are the glue that holds our contentment together. When we pay attention to them, our day feels fuller. When we ignore them, we feel like we’re missing something.
Today, keep a mental tally of the tiny victories. You might be surprised by how rich you actually are.
Reflect: What is one “tiny thing” that made you smile yesterday?
Warmly,
Bill & Marilyn
